Editorial

In order to run The Devils Advocate, we don’t ask for a lot. We don’t need a fancy printer; we don’t even use newsprint, just good old-fashioned ink and paper. But the one thing we do need, the most important thing that every newspaper needs, is a group of committed writers and editors, who value the freedom of the press. Even with tremendous budget cuts next year, limiting many of the offerings at NHS, we hope that having a student-run newspaper is a tradition that will be maintained.

During the recent presidential election, many NHS students became actively involved in the Obama campaign by attending rallies, making calls, voting for the first time, or even campaigning in swing states.
Throughout the country many felt that the stakes were high and voter turnout reflected this, with the highest numbers in at least 40 years. Obama was able to ultimately win the election because of a large and devoted network of supporters drawn to him because of his promise of change and his willingness to listen.

The Devil's Advocate is the official student newspaper of Northampton High School.
